About Us

ETH KIPU: Latin American Inspiration and Digital Transformation with Ethereum

At ETH KIPU, we draw inspiration from the ancestral cultures of Latin America, like the Incas, who used the Quipu, a system of knotted strings, to record information and tell stories. Like the Quipu, we are a network of people, ideas, and projects coming together to create a better future, powered by the transformative power of Ethereum.

ETH Kipu is a nonprofit foundation that weaves bonds to strengthen the Ethereum ecosystem through education and cooperation through the different areas of work that are part of it: Education, Impact, Staking and ETH Latam. ETH Kipu was born from the hand of a group of people from different countries who had previously been working for the adoption and dissemination of Ethereum in several Latin American countries.
The general coordination team is composed of the following: José A. Romero leads the education area, focusing on course delivery.Juan David Reyes actively seeks professional development opportunities for graduates. Paula Doy is in charge of strengthening institutional relations, while Lola Rodríguez leads the foundation's operations area. Romina Sejas, through Kipu Impact, manages the area of community and ecosystem relations.

Launched in 2015, Ethereum builds on Bitcoin’s innovation with some significant differences. Both allow you to use digital money without payment providers or banks. But Ethereum is programmable, enabling the creation and deployment of decentralized applications on its network. On Ethereum, we can write any general-purpose program or contract. While Bitcoin is primarily a payment network, Ethereum is more like a marketplace for financial services, games, social networks, and other applications that respect our privacy and can't censor us. Learn about Ethereum from scratch and for free at the ETH Kipu Campus.

The Ethereum Developer Pack is a group of courses to learn how to develop in the Ethereum ecosystem. There are five modules where we teach from the basics of blockchain to Smart Contracts security. This program is free and face-to-face in Latin American countries. You can also take it online at the ETH Kipu campus.
Syllabus of the Ethereum Developer Pack: There are five modules where we teach from the basics of blockchain to Smart Contracts security.
  • Module 1 - Intro to Smart Contracts: We review the basic concepts of blockchain and Ethereum to understand the decentralized machine on which smart contracts run. The student creates a first smart contract on a testnet.
  • Module 2 - Solidity Fundamentals: We teach the main language for programming smart contracts: Solidity.
  • Module 3 - Standards, Libraries and Patterns: We deepen in standards such as ERC 20, ERC-721 and others. We learn about the main libraries and good design practices.
  • Module 4 - Toolkit for Ethereum development: We connect the frontend to the blockchain, using the main tools on the market to develop in Web3.
  • Module 5 - Security, Testing and Auditing: Knowing methodologies for testing, as well as the main vulnerabilities in smart contracts.

The content of the Ethereum Developer Pack is open-source and open for consultation and review at following link..

The Ethereum Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports the Ethereum ecosystem. You can read its history at the following link. The Ethereum Foundation's mission is to do what is best for the long-term success of Ethereum. Its role is to allocate resources to crucial projects, to be a valuable voice within the Ethereum ecosystem, and to advocate for Ethereum in the outside world.
Within the orbit of the Ethereum Foundation is the “Ecosystem Support Program”. This is the arm that provides funding and other forms of support to eligible projects working to improve Ethereum around the world. They focus on supporting work that strengthens the foundations of Ethereum and anything that involves developing more and better tools for programmers, research, community building, infrastructure, and open and collaborative initiatives.
In 2023 we received funding from the Ethereum Foundation through the Ecosystem Support Program. This can be read on the program's blog at following link.
After a year of hard work and many accomplishments, we were again supported by the foundation in early 2024.
These funds allow us to maintain a stable work team, support instructors who helped us to deploy face-to-face and virtual courses throughout Latin America, and also support regional community initiatives.
